History

This nearly 20-acre park was established in 1997 on City land and land donated by Nicollet County Bank. The park honors the Gault family, a prominent St. Peter family with roots in the Traverse de Sioux settlement as early as 1852. James Gault was a district assessor in the 1850s, his son Z.S. Gault served as county auditor and registrar of deeds in the 1870s, before becoming a cashier and ultimately director of the Nicollet County Bank. His descendants still preside over the bank, and donated generously to the facilities.
