Refuse Service

The City of Saint Peter contracts with a local waste hauler to provide residential refuse and recycling service to all residents.

Effective July 1, 2023 we will have a new waste hauler, West Central Sanitation. New “curbies” from West Central Sanitation will be delivered the week of June 19-23. Refuse curbie will be the current size you have and Recycling curbie will be 90 gallons for everyone. Recycling curbie will have a TAN COVER. Please do not use these new curbies until after your final refuse and recycling pickup by LJP the week of June 26-28. 

Smaller recycling curbies will be available this fall, however do not call to request one until after September 5, 2023. More information to follow.

LJP, our current hauler, will provide service through June.  After LJP empties your garbage and recycling curbies the week of June 26-28, please leave them at the curb. LJP will then come around to remove the empty curbies from your property.

Service Plans Available - starting July 1, 2023

Refuse services are billed monthly on your city utility bill and includes weekly pickup of refuse and recyclables and environmental services.

Full Service - includes total cost of refuse, recycling and environmental services 

• 90 Gallon Curbie - $36.20 
• 60 Gallon Curbie - $32.47 
• 30 Gallon Curbie - $28.75   (starting October of 2023)

Volume Based - includes cost of refuse, recycling and environmental services (no longer available to new customers)

• No Curbie - $22.66 plus the cost of bags   (no longer available to new customers)
   15 Gallon Bags (Qty 10)  - $10.89 (includes sales tax)
   30 Gallon Bags (Qty 10)  - $16.46 (includes sales tax)

Bags are available at City Hall in the Finance Department and at St. Peter Arrow Hardware & Paint. Refuse bags are packaged and sold in 10s. At the City Hall Finance Department you may purchase individual bags.

• (Qty 10) 30 Gallon Bags - $16.46 (includes sales tax)

Recycling

Service includes curbside recycling. Recyclables include:

• Glass bottles and jars
• Junk mail
• Magazines
• Metal beverage and food cans
• Non-coated food paper boxes
• Paper from newspaper
• Plastics numbers 1 through 7
• Small flat pieces of corrugated cardboard

There is a $5 charge to change your refuse service.
