Saint Peter Utility Customer Rebates
Food Waste Composting Bin Rebate
City utility customers that purchase a countertop or an under the counter food waste composting bin or a back yard composting bin between May 1 and December 31, 2019 may be eligible to receive a rebate. If bins are purchased at Arrow Ace Hardware in St. Peter, a rebate form will be filled out at the store and the form will be provided to the City for processing. If purchase is made from another retail outlet the rebate forms will be available in the Finance Office at City Hall, and you will need to provide a copy of the receipt showing the purchase.
The purchase entitles the utility customer to either a $10 rebate on the countertop/under the counter bins or $30 on the backyard bin and will be a credit on their utility bill. Rebates available until $2,000 of rebates have been issued, and there is a limit of two rebates per household.
LED Light Bulb & Fixtures Rebate
LED bulbs save money, energy and help protect the environment. The LED light bulb rebate is scheduled to run until December 31, 2019. If everyone used LED bulbs, we could reduce the amount of electricity needed for lighting by more than 50%. To obtain your rebate bring in your receipt with the bulb packaging showing the Energy Star logo, bulb wattage and bulb quantity to the Finance Department.
For each LED bulb, get a rebate of 50% of your cost up to $7 each. This rebate will be applied to your electric bill.

The City of Saint Peter, in conjunction with Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, is continuing to offer rebates on selected Energy Star appliances including:
- Air Source Heat Pump
- Central Air Conditioners
- Clothes Washers
- Ground Source Heat Pump
- Light Fixtures
- Room Air Conditioners
Various business equipment rebates are also available. Qualifying central air conditioners must have seer ratings of 14 or higher. Rebate forms are available on the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency website, at the local appliance dealers and at the Finance Department.
Program Guidelines & Requirements
Program guidelines and requirements are as follows:
- Appliance must be an approved Energy Star model.
- Appliance must be installed in the City of Saint Peter electric service area.
- A dated sales receipt must be attached and submitted with the application.

2019 Central AC/Air Source Heat Pump Tune-Up Rebate
Program is available to residential and commercial customers (with “smaller” AC/ASHP units). The cooling capacity of qualifying units are required to be 5.5 tons or less to be eligible (no window or mini-split units).
This program is available for tune-ups performed during the cooling season of April 1 through September 30.

2019 Rain Barrel Rebates
May 15 to July 15, City utility customers may purchase a 45 to 50 gallon rain barrel or rain barrel diverter and parts kit from Arrow Ace Hardware. At the time of purchase, a rebate form will be filled out at the store and the form will be provided to the City for processing. Purchase of one of the qualifying barrels entitles the utility customer to either a $25 rebate on their utility bill or a $10 rebate on the utility bill for the purchase of a rain barrel diverter and parts kit.
Rebates available to the first 50 qualified purchasers and there is a limit of two rebates per household.
