Day Care Pilot Program Announced

DAY CARE WOES?  Can’t find day care for your children?  Thinking of starting your own home-based day care business?  Worried about the upfront costs of getting licensed?

Based on the work of a Child Care Study Group, the City of Saint Peter is pleased to announce a pilot program to help home-based day cares get started.  The City Council has agreed to waive the City’s fire safety inspection fee for home based day cares as well as to pay the County’s day care licensing fee for the first ten (10) applicants through 2015.  That’s an almost $200 savings to help encourage the start of new home based day cares in Saint Peter!

To be eligible for this program, business owners must meet the following criteria:

  • Proposed license location must be for a home based business located within the City limits.
  • The applicant must have the ability to enroll a minimum of two infants.
  • The applicant must complete all application paperwork for both County and City based inspections.
  • The applicant must respond to data requests related to enrollment, rates and other data which may be requested from time to time by the City.

To start a home based day care in Saint Peter, and to participate in this program, please contact Nicollet County Child Care Licenser Kristina Guth at (507)386-4517.
