Library Board OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS MINUTES OF THE SAINT PETER LIBRARY
BOARD Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting
of the Library Board of the City of I.
Call to Order:
The Library
Board meeting was called to order at II. Election of Officers: Unanimous vote for Secretary: Gail Strand; Vice Chair: Richie Wright; Chair: III. Approval of Agenda: Motion was
made by Wright and seconded by Prafke to approve the agenda. Motion carried. IV. Approval of Minutes: Motion was
made by Eichmann and seconded by Wright to approve the V. Librarian Report: Summary of activities: 1. Attended the PLA convention in 2. Staff working to create a teen area in the
library. 3. Have reconfigured the internet terminals. 4. Two new public internet terminals will be
added. 5. Have been working on the Nicollet Library
Project. Donations: 1. Food donations were collected during
the month of March for the area food shelf. 2. Continue to receive book donations
for the on-going used book sale. Traverse des Sioux Director’s
meeting: No TDS
meeting in April. The TDS Director position
is still open. Unity in Community/St. Peter Reads: Fall “read
in common” selection with author will be the third week in September. Committee
could use more members to allow for sub-committees to work on details. Staff Updates: One GAC
work study student is graduating, one will be in VI. Old Business: A. Friends
of the Library Report: FOL President Keith Wenner presented a plan to provide
coffee, tea and some refreshments to library patrons. FOL is working with local coffee shops. They will present their final plan to the
Board and hope to begin this service in the fall. B. Report
on Nicollet Library Project: The contract for services between C. Library
Board Goals for 2008: Goals proposed for 2008: 1) Work on building a relationship
with the St. Peter Friends and 2) Promote library services/usage. Prafke made a motion, seconded by VII. New Business: A. National
Public Library Association Conference: The NPLA conference was held in B. 2008 Summer
Reading Program: August 12.
The goal of the program is two-fold: 1) to keep youth reading all summer long
and 2) work on
reading 20 minutes per day. “What’s
Cookin’ @ Your Library” kicks off on Friday, Jun
13 and includes a month of events in July.
A concerned citizen voiced concern to a board member
regarding the lights that are on in the library especially at There being no other business, a motion was made by Prafke
and seconded by Mary Ann Hanson, Chair Gail Strand, Secretary
