The duties of the Public Library Board are to make recommendation regarding policy of the library, programs and operation of the library and library buildings; monitor and advocate for legislation that is appropriate to public libraries; cooperate with other public officials and boards; maintain positive community relations; and carry out other duties as assigned by the City Code or by resolution of the City Council.
The Library Board meets on the second Tuesday of every other month (starting in January) at 5:30 p.m. at the Public Library. There are seven members on this board.. Members serve three year terms. Regular meeting dates are subject to change due to holidays, special circumstances, and/or elections. City Council advisory board and commission members are recommended by the Mayor and appointed by the City Council. Vacancies occur most frequently at the end of the year, however vacancies do occur throughout the year as well.
