FILING FOR OFFICE:

Residents interested in filing for the offices of Mayor (2-year term) or Councilmember (4-year term) must do so at the City Administrator’s office during the filing period prescribed by State law. (This is a two week period that begins 70 days before the election.) The filing fee is $2. Elections for these positions are held during odd numbered years.

Any person wishing to file for City offices may do so at the City Administrator’s office in the Municipal Building, 227 South Front Street between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The filing fee is $2.00. Persons with questions regarding the election are encouraged to call the City Administrator’s office at 934-0663.

Residents interested in filing for other offices should call the County Auditor for further information (507-934-0348).

FILINGS FOR 2009:
Filings for City offices will open at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009 and will close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. The Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 to elect a Mayor, one Councilmember from the South Ward and two City Councilmembers from the North Ward. The terms of:

Timothy Strand	Mayor	2 year term
Jerry Pfeifer	Councilmember	4 year term
Ken Eichmann	Councilmember	4 year term
Victoria Vogel	Councilmember	4 year term

expire on December 31, 2009.
