City Council Workshop Rules

The Saint Peter City Council meets in workshop sessions on the first and third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.  Please indicate your wish to address the Council on a workshop agenda item prior to the start of the workshop.  (Visitors are asked not to speak about non-agenda items at workshops.)  You will be required to provide your name, home address and to identify the agenda topic you wish to speak to.  The Mayor will call on you when that agenda item comes up and will allow you five (5) minutes to comment.  The Council reserves the right to ask questions and to respond to any question at a later time.  The Council may also ask staff to contact you about your comments at another time.

When commenting, we ask that you be courteous to all and that you limit your comments to an expression of concern or constructive suggestions on the agenda topic.  Should your comments include a request for action by the Council or staff, it would be helpful if you could also provide a written request for this action.

The City Council has a great number of issues and concerns to deal with.  By being brief, yet specific, you allow us more time to expedite action pertaining to your concerns and the concerns of all Saint Peter residents.  In addition, if your remarks appear to have strayed beyond the scope of a constructive presentation, you may be interrupted and asked to conclude your comments.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

In months in which a fifth Monday occurs, the City Council meets in goal sessions.  These sessions begin at 3:00 p.m. and while the goal session is open to the public, the public is not allowed to participate in the goal sessions.  Goal sessions are normally held in the Governors Room of the Community Center, however, the location may change.  Please contact the City Administrator's Office at 507-934-0663 for exact location information.

City Hall is open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  If at any time you have questions, comments, concerns or need information of any kind, please feel free to stop in or call.  The City Administrator and City staff are happy to assist you. Thank you.
